I know that the majority of you want to view the stars/planets etc. but I am interested in terrestial viewing. What I know now after some rudimentry research is that I will need a refractor telescope with 45 degree diagonals. If any of you out there have experience in this area and can recommend a particular scope and why, I would most appreciate it. Here are my particulars: I live 5 miles away from the foothills of the rocky mountains and have fullview of the slopes and peaks. I would like to be able to see goats, elk, deer, etc on the slopes, and be able to make out what I am viewing in fairly good detail. . What scope would you recommend or am I just thinking I can see something like this 5 miles away, but wouldn't be able to. Your recommendations please.

The type of telescope I have, Orion StarMax 127mm Equatorial Mak-Cass Telescope, might interest you.
I notice the price dropped down to about $600. I paid twice that four years ago.
